16 years of seminars, helping scores of people answer that all important question...

"Is Innkeeping the right direction for my future?"

Testimonials:

Rhonda Briel - Aspiring Innkeeper

“I gained needed insight into many different aspects of innkeeping, from financing to room decoration. Visits with local innkeepers and speakers from the banking and internet industry were especially helpful. This is the only seminar that an aspiring innkeeper will ever need to attend. I left with a lot of information and high expectations for my future career.”

Ruth and Scott Thomas - Brewster House B&B - www.brewsterhouse.com

"The InnYourDreams seminar was invaluable in helping us decide to become innkeepers. It confirmed our own understanding, and brought out details we would never have imagined on our own. The practical information from Don and the guest experts he brought in, and the checklists, forms and tips for running an inn, helped prepare us for the purchase of the inn as well as the day-to-day job that awaited us."

APRIL 10-12, 2010     THE NEWCASTLE INN
www.newcastleinn.com

As in ’09, the first class of the year will be at the Newcastle Inn. Julie Bolthuis is in her second year of Inn ownership. Under Julie’s guidance, the Inn has made great strides toward success. Unlike most new Innkeepers, Julie came to Inn ownership with an extensive background in hospitality; lending itself beautifully to the many questions posed by the class.

Because the Inn is centrally located in the mid-coast area, in conjunction with classroom activities, the class will also visit some of the area Inns. During these visits, the group will have an opportunity for a Q&A with both new and seasoned Innkeepers.

"We just completed the first 2010 Inn Your Dreams seminar at the Newcastle Inn. What a great group of people. We certainly had a lot of fun. Julie Bolthuis, the owner/Innkeeper of the Newcastle, as she did last year, set a great example and created a wonderful environment in which to learn all about Innkeeping. Julie also prepared a superb selection of meals for the class.

When there is a group that is truly involved in wanting to learn, it makes my position as instructor an almost effortless experience. I find that most classes are like that and this class was certainly no exception.

I am looking forward to next month’s seminar at the Brewster House. I am planning a few surprises for this group as well at the October gathering at the Blue Hill Inn. I hope that you will be able to join us for an upcoming class."

MAY 1-3, 2010     THE BREWSTER HOUSE B&B
www.brewsterhouse.com

The Inn is located just north of Portland in Freeport, Maine, the home of LL Bean. As I have done in the past, class members will have the opportunity to visit Beans and the other fine outlet shops in Freeport.

This will be the 3rd time that Ruth and Scott Thomas have welcomed an Inn Your Dreams class to their Inn. Four years ago Ruth and Scott were class members themselves. They set a wonderful example for the group with the hospitable and successful ambiance they have created for their guests. With his computer knowledge, Scott will also impart extensive information concerning the various reservation and record keeping programs available to Innkeepers.

The class will also visit area Inns and participate in a Q&A session with the Innkeepers.

We just completed the second Inn Your Dreams class for 2010. We experienced a beautiful weekend at the Brewster House in Freeport. The weather was perfect as was the hospitality we enjoyed from Scott and Ruth Thomas, the owner/Innkeepers of Brewster House. Ruth (& Scott) outdid themselves with the superb meals they prepared for us.

We spent a delightful Sunday afternoon at the Woolworth cottage in Monmouth, Maine. The class members were able to put into use many of the lessons they learned from the class. We divided into teams, explored the property and came back together to tell each other how each team would go about turning the property into an Inn and how they would market it. Just as last year’s class felt the last time I did this exercise; it was a great learning experience in putting an Inn together. It’s great fun to spend whatever amounts of money you want, in a gorgeous setting, without having to expend your own cash

The next class will be in October at the Blue Hill Inn on the mid coast. The Inn was recently voted the Best Classic Inn in Maine. When you see the property and experience Sarah Pebworth and her staff’s hospitality, you’ll understand that the award was well deserved. I hope you can join us.
