16 years of seminars, helping scores of people answer that all important question...

"Is Innkeeping the right direction for my future?"

Testimonials:

Rhonda Briel - Aspiring Innkeeper

“I gained needed insight into many different aspects of innkeeping, from financing to room decoration. Visits with local innkeepers and speakers from the banking and internet industry were especially helpful. This is the only seminar that an aspiring innkeeper will ever need to attend. I left with a lot of information and high expectations for my future career.”

Ruth and Scott Thomas - Brewster House B&B - www.brewsterhouse.com

"The InnYourDreams seminar was invaluable in helping us decide to become innkeepers. It confirmed our own understanding, and brought out details we would never have imagined on our own. The practical information from Don and the guest experts he brought in, and the checklists, forms and tips for running an inn, helped prepare us for the purchase of the inn as well as the day-to-day job that awaited us."

As in ’09, the first class of the year will be at the Newcastle Inn. Julie Bolthuis is in her second year of Inn ownership. Under Julie’s guidance, the Inn has made great strides toward success. Unlike most new Innkeepers, Julie came to Inn ownership with an extensive background in hospitality; lending itself beautifully to the many questions posed by the class.

Because the Inn is centrally located in the mid-coast area, in conjunction with classroom activities, the class will also visit some of the area Inns. During these visits, the group will have an opportunity for a Q&A with both new and seasoned Innkeepers.

MAY 1-3, 2010     THE BREWSTER HOUSE B&B
www.brewsterhouse.com

The Inn is located just north of Portland in Freeport, Maine, the home of LL Bean. As I have done in the past, class members will have the opportunity to visit Beans and the other fine outlet shops in Freeport.

This will be the 3rd time that Ruth and Scott Thomas have welcomed an Inn Your Dreams class to their Inn. Four years ago Ruth and Scott were class members themselves. They set a wonderful example for the group with the hospitable and successful ambiance they have created for their guests. With his computer knowledge, Scott will also impart extensive information concerning the various reservation and record keeping programs available to Innkeepers.

The class will also visit area Inns and participate in a Q&A session with the Innkeepers.

Don’s thoughts on 2009 classes...

Aspiring Innkeeper’s, we missed you in 2009. I know that you would have enjoyed being with us at one of the three ’09 classes. Each class contained an enthusiastic group of people who were anxious to learn all about Innkeeping – and have fun while doing it!

We started the ’09 classes on the mid-coast of Maine at the Newcastle Inn. Julie Bolthuis, the new owner of the Inn, could not have been more gracious and informative. Julie’s past Innkeeping experience lent itself to beautifully to the many questions posed by the class. In conjunction with our classroom activities, the class went on the road to visit a variety of Inns. We also to had a Q&A session with some new and some seasoned Innkeepers; always a popular part of the class.

Over the Labor Day weekend, we held our 2nd class of ’09 at the Brewster House Inn in Freeport, Maine. Innkeepers, Scott and Ruth Thomas created a wonderful hospitable atmosphere for learning. A great group of aspiring innkeepers enjoyed a new approach to learning about Innkeeping.

On Sunday of the Labor Day weekend, we traveled to a distinctive home located on a lake in the center of Maine. The home is called The Cottage at Clearview Farm and is part of the Woolworth estate. After a lakeside picnic, the class divided into teams and each team went their separate way to make decisions on how the property could be turned into an Inn. It definitely is a property waiting to happen and the class came up with some extraordinary “Inn” ideas. The class felt that it was a terrific learning experience while enjoying the atmosphere of a remarkable home.

The last Inn Your Dreams class of ’09 was held at the Blue Hill Inn in the beautiful coastal town of Blue Hill, Maine. As many of the people in the class commented, it was the perfect atmosphere for learning about Innkeeping:  A beautiful and cozy 18th century Inn, perfect fall weather, and autumn colors all around. On top of this, Sarah Pebworth and her staff presented a true example of what exceptional Innkeeping is all about.

We hope that you will be able to join us in 2010.
